Household- multiple catsQ: I am looking for a flea tick med for my cats that is usable in a household of two cats which "groom" (lick) each other on a regular basis including the neck area where so many of these topical applications are to be applied. the cats swallow pills fine. is there any pill or oral med instead of the topical applications or are the topical applications safe in our circumstance? A: Program is available as tablets and liquid for cats. however, this is only for fleas. if you want flea and tick control, you can use frontline plus for cats. however, you should keep your cats separated for at least 24 hours after applying.

Lab earQ: Doc, i have fought with numerous vets about the yeast infections my lab gets from swimming all the time. i have a vet that gives me an atiboitic in pill form, but insists that i come in for an exam before he prescribes them to me. they charge me an arm and a leg for all of this....can you tell me what these pills usually are. i want to start ordering them online. they clear up my labs ears in less than a week and he's usually good for the rest of the summer. thanks, your old pal in arizona, shorty A: If you will call our order department and speak with one of our representative, they will be able to aid you.
Alaskan malamuteQ: We have a malamute that has trouble getting up. he is 10 yrs old (125 lbs.) and we got a perscription of rymidl and he wouldnot take it, we also got glyco-flex and he will not take them either. right now he is on eucanuba veteranry diet dog food. we also have a 10 yr old sheltie that is over weight that is why they are on diet dog food. what do you recomend that we try for him. he does eat treats, but he will not eat a pill and i can't force him too, he is too strong, he will not open his mouth. if i do get it in there he just spits it out. i tried stuffing some in a hot dog (they normally don't get people food) but he ate the hot dog and spit out the pills. if you have any ideas please let me know. thanks A: You may want to try cosequin ds. these are capsules that you can open and sprinkle the contents on the dogs food.
In ref. to flea, tick & heartworm medicationQ: We have a bouvier named "sassy," after many tests we have found out she was infected with a tick and has lyme disease. our doctor has her on doxycycline 100mg. (is this a good medication for her treatment. we give her 1 & 1/2 pills twice a day) we are not sure how long she has been infected but i think it may have been for some time. i have her on advantage, and no heartworm medication. . i have heard about revolution and wanted to know if this is something that i should consider for her after we take care of this immediate problem. another question is in regards to the lyme disease, is there any long term problems once she has been infected. we are so concerned about her and want to keep her safe and happy. she is a little over 8years old and a very small bouvier, about 65#. (lost weigh due to the lyme infection normally around 76#.) she is not an outdoor dog as you might think. . .we have about 2 acres not a lot of trees. she spends her time outside but sleeps inside with us. thank you for your time in answering our questions. sincerely, jud A: Doxycycline is the drug of choice for the treatment of lyme disease. if you follow your veterinarian's instructions for care and treatment there should be no long term effects, depending on how long the pet had untreated disease. your pet should be on heartworm medication. revolution is an effective product.
